Cliffs of Moher Elopement

Multi Destination

Two Locations and a Beautiful Adventure for Savannah and Derreck

Savannah and Derreck certainly made the most of their big day. If you can’t choose between the astonishing Cliffs of Moher or the magical  Wicklow Mountains, why not choose both? That’s what Savannah and Derreck did, with an elopement full of beautiful landscapes, seeped in Celtic tradition. These high school sweethearts traveled all the way from Pennsylvania for their multi-destination elopement. Celebrating at both the Cliffs of Moher and the Wicklow Mountains was a great choice, as it allowed them to share some gorgeous festivities with family and friends, while also having plenty of intimate moments at their second celebration with just the two of them. It also allowed them to really explore the landscape — and make so many memories along the way!

They started in the Cliffs of Moher with their nearest and dearest. The entire party decided to stay in the same set of holiday cottages, perfect for the ladies to get their hair and makeup done in the morning. It was a lovely start to the day, full of greens, lace, and even a little sparkle, while the boys decided to head to the pub before the ceremony!

Elopement Cliffs of Moher

The Cliffs of Moher really are a natural wonder. With amazing views and dramatic waves, its landscape and wildlife are the stuff of legends. It’s also an incredible location for both the heartfelt ceremony and the group photos afterward.

Then it was time for the party, and this couple celebrated Ireland at every turn. Gus O’Connor’s is a traditional Irish pub, a great choice for the couple and for their loved ones to really let loose with a knees-up! And when we say they celebrated Ireland, we mean it —  they even went with a chocolate, Guinness, and salted caramel wedding cake. The pub was also close enough to the cliffs that the couple could sneak back for some breathtaking sunset photos.

The pair headed out for their honeymoon — traveling around Galway, Killarney, Dingle, and Cork, before making their way to Dublin. But the celebrations weren’t finished. They knew they wanted the breathtaking Wicklow Mountains to be a part of their wedding memories, and it was a great chance for the couple to have a private day of romance and adventure. This vast expanse of mountains has so many nooks and crannies to visit, from valleys to lakes to waterfalls, not to mention amazing wildlife. The deer and the goats are definitely worth keeping an eye out for!

From Dublin, the couple took an easy 30-minute drive to the national park for a bit of exploring. They had an adventure photoshoot — with the same photographer who got to know them on the cliffs. They visited the iconic Powerscourt Waterfall, which stands at an astounding 121 meters high, and the charming Glendalough Valley. When they reached the beautiful Lough Tay lake, Savannah and Derreck joined in the handfasting ceremony. Together, just the two of them, they bound their hands in the traditional Celtic way, to symbolize the joining of their lives. Finally, they journeyed to Djouce Mountain, to take in the rolling, rugged landscape and spend one more magical sunset together.

Every elopement is different, and couples find their own way to make it special. For Savannah and Derreck, that meant two locations, two beautiful days of celebration, with a lot of exploring the Emerald Isle in between! After 11 years together, they knew what was right for them — and it was definitely the trip of a lifetime.
